Seminar on Public Private Dialogue: Sustainable Architecture & Green Building Initiatives in Bangladesh.
The Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) of the University Grants Commission, funded CP449/Building Technology & Material Research Lab is hosting a seminar on sustainable architecture and green building initiatives in Bangladesh. Special guest, acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdus Sattar of North South University, will inaugurate the Seminar. Architects BTMR Lab of North South University, Department of Architecture, is holding this seminar in partnership with the Housing & Building Research Institute (HBRI) and the Institute of Architects Bangladesh, IAB. Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund is providing support for the seminar. It will be held at the Westin Hotel ballrooms 2 & 3 on 4th December 2012 at 10:00 am. The theme of the seminar presentation from North South University, Department of Architecture is to present the BTMR Lab’s goals and achievements since its inception. The lab was envisioned as the beginning of a research base on green building and sustainable architecture to promote teaching and learning on the subject. Other presentations will include a paper on the IAB’s green building rating system to be introduced in the future, by IAB General Secretary, architect Jalal Ahmed. Prashant Kapoor of IFC and Dr. Ommid Saberi of WSP will present their paper on Bangladesh Green Building Code and the energy baseline study conducted in partnership with the Housing and Building Research Institute. The chief guest at the occasion, Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific will deliver his speech. President of IAB architect Mubassar Hussain and Chairman of HBRI, Engineer Md. Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan will also be present and deliver their speeches at the occasion.
